Why James Harden was fined $100K for his 76ers trade request when other players haven’t been

The NBA fined Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden $100,000 for his public trade demands, the league said Tuesday. Here’s what you need to know:

Harden reiterated his desire to not play for Philadelphia and called president of basketball operations Daryl Morey “a liar” during an Adidas marketing appearance on Aug. 14.
The NBA’s investigation confirmed that Harden’s comments made on Aug. 14 and Aug. 17 referenced the guard’s belief that the 76ers will not trade him.
Harden requested the trade in late June and prefers to be sent to the L.A. Clippers.
