Dennis Schröder powers Germany to FIBA World Cup gold over Serbia

MANILA, Philippines — The actual World Cup, the Naismith trophy, was full of San Miguel beer. As tournament MVP Dennis Schröder was trying to speak at the podium, the German team jumped on him, sloshing it all over.
The Cup belongs to them, and they were going to do with it what they pleased.
“Sorry, the beers were flowing in the locker room,” Germany coach Gordie Herbert said, apologizing as he stumbled through some of his own remarks. “I love the Philippines, but they gotta get better beer.”
Schröder’s bullish drive to the hoop and right hand off the glass with 21.4 seconds…
