76ers bring back Danny Green on 1-year deal

The Philadelphia 76ers are signing veteran wing Danny Green to a one-year contract, Green’s agent told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The deal marks multiple reunions for the 36-year-old; he spent the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns with the 76ers and links up again with head coach Nick Nurse, whom Green played for on the 2019 title-winning Toronto Raptors.

Green finished last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who signed him after the Houston Rockets bought him out. In eight games for the Cavs, he averaged 6.5 points and shot 44.8% on threes while playing 11.9 minutes per contest.

After tearing the ACL and LCL in his left knee in the second round of the 2022 playoffs with Philadelphia, Green was traded at that year’s NBA draft to the Memphis Grizzlies. He didn’t make his team debut until nearly four months into the season due to the injury. Green played just three games for the Grizzlies before the franchise sent him to Houston at the February trade deadline in a three-team deal that also shipped Eric Gordon to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The 15-year vet and three-time NBA champion is a 40% shooter from distance and owns career marks of 8.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
